Winifred Mixon, age 75, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Sunday, November 6th, at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19th, at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center Chapel in Erskine with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Pioneer Chapel. Winifred was born on March 18, 1941 in Silver City, New Mexico and was lovingly adopted by Mario and Ruth (Orendorff) Galassini. She grew up in Roswell, New Mexico and attended Roswell High School. Winnie was married to Robert Zaccardi and a daughter, Tanya, was born. She married Stan Mixon and to this union, one son, Larry, was born. Winnie was a teacher at a Christian school in Salt Lake City, UT and worked for several years as an airport security guard in Salt Lake City as well as Pensacola, Florida. As a result of her work in airports, Winnie had the opportunity to meet, get to know, and share friendship with several celebrities. Stan and Winnie moved to Oklee, Minnesota in 2007 to be near her their daughter, Tanya. They both entered the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erksine in 2011 and Stan passed away on December 31, 2012. Winnie was a dedicated volunteer during her lifetime. She volunteered as a youth softball coach, Girl Scout leader, with the Humane Society, and ran a POW/MIA office out of her home in Roswell. She was also a Rainbow Girl with the Masonic Lodge. Winnie had also been a race car driver and loved watching NASCAR events. She was also a big Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed listening to Dwight Yoakam. She continued to reside there until her passing on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the age of 75 years. Survivors include her daughter, Tanya (John) Kimball of Oklee; son, Larry Mixon of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Mikey and Dallas Mixon, Steven (Karrie) Stinnett and their children, Kaitlyn and Ethan, Shawn (Kaitlyn) Ringeisen and their children, Cheston and Abigail, and Cory Montoya and his children, Koda Lynn, Sean Michael, Leah, Trinity, and Amberlynn. Siblings also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan; and her parents.
