Wayne A. Kinney, Age 85, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday, July 16th at Essentia Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday (July 22nd) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Wayne Arthur Kinney was born on April 3, 1926 in Niagara, North Dakota to parents Vernon and Ruth (West) Kinney. He grew up and attended country school near Niagara. Wayne entered the United States Army Air Corp on April 26, 1946, serving his country during World War II. He received his honorable discharge on March 24, 1949. He returned to North Dakota and attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. After school, he worked as a mechanic, providing service at area farms. Wayne was united in marriage to Mary Anne Erlandsen on September 30, 1967. After their marriage, Wayne spent a few years working for large farms in rural North Dakota. In March of 1970, he began work for the U.S. Department of Energy, continuing this employment until his retirement in 1988. During his working years, Wayne and Mary Ann lived in several communities in North Dakota including Grand Forks, Fargo and Larimore. For the past seven years, they have been residing in Fosston.Wayne enjoyed math, mechanical work and working with guns. He also enjoyed beer and wine making. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Anne of Fosston; one son, Michael (Arla) Kinney of Fosston; one daughter, Michele "Shelly" (Eric) Rustad of Fosston; one grandson, Michael Rustad of Fosston; four siblings, Delores Born of Kansas City, KS, Glenn (Mae) Kinney of Fort Collins, CO, Curt Kinney of Fargo, ND, and Virginia Gillespie of Pisek, ND. Many nieces and nephews also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Laurene Jicka; brother-in-law, John Born; and sister-in-law, Donna Kinney.Pallbearers will be Eric Rustad, Michael Rustad, Trent Kinney, Tanner Kinney, Roger Erlandsen, and Phil Norgren.
