Vivian Norgaard, age 89, of Gully, MN, passed away on Monday (June 21st) at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (June 26th) at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully with Pastor Michael Sletto and Pastor Bob Kelly officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (June 25th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Vivian Adeline Watne was born on April 11, 1921 in Gully, Minnesota to parents Ole and Laura (Olson) Watne. She grew up in Gully and attended school in Trail. Vi worked on the family farm before moving to Duluth where she worked as a waitress. Vi was united in marriage to Raymond Milton Norgaard on October 3, 1945 in Cloquet, Minnesota. After their marriage, they settled on the Norgaard family farm south of Gully. In addition to helping Ray on the farm, Vi was also employed at the Rouland and Gully Co-op stores, at a munitions plant in the Twin Cities, Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, and at Windsor Lefse in Gonvick. At the time of Ray's passing on March 22, 2003, they had been married for over 57 years.She was a member of Lund Lutheran Church and its ladies aid. She was also a member of the Gonvick American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Eastern Star in Fosston. Vi enjoyed gardening, canning pickles, mowing the lawn, shopping, knitting and crocheting (she made many quilts and afghans for her family), and spending time with her grandchildren. Vi also enjoyed her visits with family and friends at the cabin on Pine Lake. Along with her daughter Robin and her sister Carrie, Vi visited her ancestral home in Norway where she found the birthplace of her parents. Vi loved the community of Gully and spent her entire life there. Gully was a place of comfort and joy to her and she enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks at the age of 89 years.Survivors include her son, Vance (Jean) of Northfield, MN; daughter, Robin Kelleher of Burnsville, MN; former daughter-in-law, Linda Barcus of Bemidji, MN; former son-in-law, Tom Kelleher of Prior Lake, MN; four grandchildren, Eric (Jana) Norgaard of Bemidji, Chris (Jenny) Norgaard of Tioga, ND, Celia Norgaard of Hettinger, ND (fiancé, Matt), and Charles Norgaard of Shakopee, MN; great grandchildren, Matthew, Adeline, Gunnar, and Jack; step grandchildren, Talla Antonczak of Apple Valley, MN, and Tammy Smith of Lakeville, MN; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Watne of Goodridge, MN, Pearl Watne of Gully, and Donna Watne of Gonvick. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; parents; two sisters, Gunda Syrtveit, and Carrie Christianson; five brothers, Lloyd, Lewie, Olaf, Lawrence "Bud", and Floyd; infant sister, Leloris and two other infant siblings.Pallbearers: David Watne, Oren Syrtveit, Gary Watne, Steve Watne, Leslie Watne, Patty Carlson, Janet Steimel, and Karen Weber.
