Virgie Kroening, age 93, of Fosston, Minnesota passed away on Sunday (December 31st) at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (January 6th) at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Dalen officiating. Interment will be in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (January 5th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Family condolences may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.comVirgie Mildred Hilliard was born on April 18, 1913 in McHenry, North Dakota to parents Elmer and Inga (Johnson) Hilliard. As a young girl she moved with her parents to Lengby, Minnesota where she completed the eighth grade with prefect attendance. She was the oldest of eight children.On November 12, 1931, she was united in marriage to Alfred Frank Kroening. To this union were born six children. They lived in Minneapolis for many years before moving to the home place south of Fosston where they farmed until Alfred's death in 1964. She later moved to Lengby where she lived until the past years that she resided at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a longtime member of Kingo Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Spring Lake V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #2759 of Lengby.Virgie passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2006 at First Care Nursing Home at the age of 93 years.She is survived by two daughters, Juanita (Robert) Balstad of Fosston, and Diane Dombrowski of Rosemount, MN; one son, Douglas (Joyce) Kroening of Andover, MN; one sister, Amy (Glen) Henry of Casper, WY. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and many cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred in 1964; one son, Roger; and daughters, Delores Bakken and Patricia Norberg; four infant grandchildren; five brothers, Orville, Lester, Gerald, Elroy, and Keith; and one sister, Leora Lindberg.Virgie's family would like to thank you for your kind expression of sympathy and for your presence at this celebration of her life.
