Virgel Plante

Virgel Leroy Plante, age 86, passed away September 21, 2022, peacefully at his lake home surrounded by his loved ones. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2nd, at Valley Christian Church, 3920 Cherry St., Grand Forks, with Pastor Chris Dawer officiating.

Virgel was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Local 49 Operating Engineers. Virgel has built many foundations to pave the way for his children, grandchildren and generations to come. He is survived by his wife Janet Plante of 66 years, 5 children; Lori Reese, Grand Forks, ND; Dennis Plante, Inver Grove, MN; Daniel (Gloria) Plante, Mentor, MN; Tammi (Glen Hill) Wamstad, Orange Beach, AL; Kylie (Carl Woeck) Wamstad, Ada, MN; many foster children especially Dale Friesen; grandchildren (18), great grandchildren (38), great great grandchildren, and Sisters Gloria Qualley Benedick and Violet Cote (2). Proceeded in death by parents Vedo & Myrtle Plante; sisters Darlane Fjerstad and Joyce Cook; brothers David and Richard Plante; in laws Jeanette and Gary Mellum; Cheryl Dibble and Patricia Krasky; foster son Dale Friesen; son in laws Mike Reese and Terry Wamstad.
