Viola Rasmusson

Viola Rasmusson, age 90, of Fosston, MN passed away on Tuesday, September 29th at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. A private graveside burial service, celebrating her life, attended by her loving family and close friends will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at 1:30 PM at East Lake Lillian Baptist Cemetery at Lake Lillian, MN. Following the burial service, a lunch will be served at the community center in Lake Lillian. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the East Lake Lillian Baptist Cemetery or the First Care Nursing Home Residence Council.Viola Rose Brede was born on July 30, 1919 in Cosmos Township in Meeker County, MN to parents Fred and Ida (Reukert) Brede. She attended school in District 53 near Cosmos, MN. She was confirmed at the Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos at the age of 14. Viola was a member of the Lake Lillian Baptist Church.She married Harlan Rasmusson on May 3, 1939 and they made their home in rural Lake Lillian, MN until 1975 when they moved to the Lengby/Fosston, MN area.On Tuesday, September, 29, 2009 Viola Rasmusson, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at First Care Nursing in Fosston at the age of 90 years.Her legacy will be carried on endlessly. Her family is grateful for the love, faith and family that she molded in them. Her family will miss her and they are celebrating her freedom in Heaven. She will be laid to rest beside her husband of 67 years.She is survived by her children, Dallas and Marlene Rasmusson of Gully, MN, Darlene and Bob Hanson of Little Falls, MN, Sharolyn Goodsen and Ken Lawlor of Duluth, MN, and Steven and Deb Rasmusson of Lengby, MN; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; three brothers, Orville and Elaine Brede of Hastings, MN, Earl and Verle Brede of Lake Lillian, MN, and LaVerne and Ella Brede of Hutchinson, MN; one sister, Grace Schuman of Dassel, MN; and one sister-in-law, Ethelyde Rasmusson of Lake Lillian.She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan; infant daughter, Marjean; and grandson, Jeffrey Hanson.
