Victor Matson, age 102, of Fosston, MN passed away on Sunday, October 21st at his home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (October 26th) at the Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston with Pastor Hollis Graves officiating. Interment will be in Mamre Cemetery, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday (October 25th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston and for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Victor Cornelius Matson was born on December 7, 1904 in Chester Township at the home of his parents Ole and Marit (Thulien) Matson. He attended school at Roseland and Lindsay rural schools. He grew up on his father's farm and that was his livelihood until he purchased his own farm when he got married.Victor was united in marriage to Clara Braaten on June 6, 1928. Victor served the Lord his entire life and was very active in the leadership of the Hill River Gospel Tabernacle. He continued farming until 1946 when he sold this farm and moved to Fosston. After selling the farm in Fosston in 1958, they moved to Tacoma, Washington where Victor built homes and had a landscaping business. In 1976 they moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and lived there until 1981 when he decided to make his round robin and return home to Fosston and has lived here since.Victor passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the Prairie Pines Assisted Living Community in Fosston at the age of 102 years, 10 months and 14 days.Victor is survived by his wife of 79 years, Clara of Fosston; four children, Curtiss (Lillian) of Broken Arrow, OK, Vern (Carol) of Babbitt, MN, Marlowe (Verda) of Black Diamond, Alberta, Canada, and Sharon (Bud) Moody of Wenatchee, WA. They also had 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters, Obed, Ray, Eleanora, Lorinda and Esther; one daughter-in-law, Merelyn; and one granddaughter, Pamela.Victor Matson leaves a legacy to his family, his church, and the community.
