Vernon Rolf

Vernon Rolf, age 78, of McIntosh, Minnesota passed away on Sunday (May 20th) at First Care Hospital in Fosston, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday (May 25th) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh. Sympathy messages may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Vernon was born to William and Alice (Mjovig) Rolf on January 20, 1929 in McIntosh, Minnesota. He attended Foot Lake School. Vern was a PFC in the United States Army from August of 1951 until his honorable discharge in August of 1953.Vernon was united in marriage to Mary Grace Walford on September 2, 1956 in McIntosh. He worked for Red Owl in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Fosston, Minnesota and Virginia, Minnesota. Vern and Mary returned to McIntosh in the Fall of 1970 and began farming. He loved working in his greenhouses and on his farm until his retirement in 1987.Some of his favorite past times were spent with his family, friends, and helping Santa Claus every December. Vernon touched many lives over the years through his work with AAL and all the kindness he showed everyone around him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Vernon passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 78 years and four months.Vernon is survived by four children, Shelly Johnson of Fargo, ND, Paul (Jenn Tvedt) of Red Lake Falls, MN, Patrick (Karen) of McIntosh, MN, and Shari (Jeff) Baird of Red Lake Falls, MN; Very Special Friend, Lori Gunther; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeremy) Halland, Sara (Troy) Hoglo, Lee (Stacy) Tofstad, Loren Tofstad, Chad Olson, Heather (Tom Hegre) Neste, Kelsee, Gabrielle, and Shellby Baird. Eight great grandchildren; two sisters, DeLaine (Parnell) Oppegaard of McIntosh, MN, Lois Gulbranson of Concordia, MO; three brothers, Lawrence (Lenore) of Cypress, CA, Roger (Eva) and Marvin (Barbara), all of McIntosh, MN. Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (July of 1999); son, Clayton; his parents; three brothers, two sisters and one great nephew.Honorary Pallbearers will be Vernon's brothers and sisters and his special friends.Active Pallbearers will be Vernon's children and their spouses- Shelly Johnson, Paul Rolf, Jenn Tvedt, Patrick Rolf, Karen Rolf, Shari Baird, and Jeff Baird.
