Vernon Lindfors, age 70, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Wednesday (January 4th) at Hospice House at Health Park in Fort Myers, FL after a courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (January 10th) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday (January 9th) and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. All visitation will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Vern was born October 29th, 1941 at Fosston, Minnesota to parents Carl Lindfors and Charlotte Tangen Lindfors. He grew up in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1959. He attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a business degree in 1963. He married Irene Broadwell, in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Sept 9, 1961 and then returned to Fosston in 1963 where he joined his mother at the Lindfors Insurance Agency and moved to the farm his grandfather homesteaded . He retired from the Lindfors Insurance Agency in 2006, having helped grow the business from one location with three employees to three locations with more than fifteen employees.Vern was a strong believer in continued education earning his Accredited Tax Professional and Certified Insurance Counselor certificate. He was active in the Professional Insurance Agents and served on the state board for multiple years. Vern was also active in the community of Fosston, serving on the Hospital Board and as a Rotary Club member for many years. He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family. Vern leaves behind his wife Irene of Fosston, MN and Fort Myers, FL, his son Greg Lindfors of Denver CO, son Thomas Lindfors and wife Terri of Champlin, MN, daughter Cynthia Golembuski and husband Steve of Morrisville, PA, and daughter Kara Gillund and husband Jay of Marion, IA. Vern has six grandchildren: Kendra and Cole Lindfors, Ethan and Cate Golembuski and Colin and Quentin Gillund. He is also survived by one sister Dorothy Christen and husband Harry of Duluth MN, brothers-in-law George Broadwell and his wife Audrey, Don Broadwell and wife Linda. Sisters-in-law, Doria Bakken and husband Irving, Virgina Anderson and husband Jerry, Viola Olsen, June Anderson and husband Bill, Lorayn Visser and husband Earl and Carol Broadwell. Vern has one surviving aunt, Marion Tangen of Chula Vista CA, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
