Twyla Bacon, age 80, from Fosston, MN and formerly from Erskine, MN passed away on Friday, August 6th at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston, with Pastor John Marx and Pastor David Dwyer officiating. Family and friends will gather for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery of rural Erskine, and arrangements are with Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com. Twyla Viola Gross was born on a rural farmstead in Clark County, Wisconsin to parents Russell and Amanda (Andreg) Gross. She attended grade school in Spokerville, WI and high school at Loyal, WI. While attending Wessington Springs Jr. College in South Dakota she met her husband Forest C. Bacon. They were married August 14, 1948 and made their home in Mora, MN where they farmed. She was a lifelong member of Henriette Free Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for years, and was active with the youth groups and President of the Ladies' Missionary Society several times-a witness to all of God's saving grace. In 1981 they moved to Erskine, MN to be near their children and grandchildren. After Forest's death in 2001, Twyla moved to Fosston where she lived until the time of her passing. She attended Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston, and took part as she could.Twyla Bacon passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND at the age of 80 years.She is survived by her three children, Russell (Patti) Bacon of Erskine, Marcelyn (Dennis) Nikolayson of Erskine, and Sterling Bacon of Killeen, TX; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Clouse of Corning, CA, and Marjorie Remple of Fresno, CA; brother Glen Gross of Corning, CA; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bacon of Minneapolis, and Pearl Bacon of Stanchfield, MN; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Bacon; her parents, Russell and Amanda Gross; one brother, Wayne Gross; and one sister, Beverly Chittenden.Blessed be her memory.
