Truman Johnson, age 93, of Erskine, MN and formerly of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday (August 5th) at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (August 10th) at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Mark Peske officiating. Interment will be in First English Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mentor, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday (August 9th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the McIntosh V.F.W. Post #6891. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Truman Julius Johnson was born on November 25, 1915 in Badger Township, Polk County, Minnesota to parents Herbert and Anna (Olson) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at First English Lutheran Church in Mentor. He attended rural school in Badger Township and farmed with his father there until he left for military service. Truman entered the United States Army in January of 1942, serving 30 months in combat in the European Theatre during World War II. He received his honorable discharge in October of 1945 and returned home to his life of farming.He was united in marriage to Dorothy Agar Clark on June 24, 1978. After their marriage, they made their home on the farm. They also enjoyed traveling together for several years prior to selling the farm and moving to McIntosh. They resided there for seven years until moving to the Country Place in Erskine. Truman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh. He enjoyed woodworking, was a skilled welder, and, in his retirement, raised bees and built bee boxes.Truman passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine at the age of 93 years, eight months and 11 days.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Erskine; two stepchildren, Sally Summers of Devils Lake, ND and Donald (Carleen) Agar of Fosston; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Johnson and Gertrude Johnson, both of Erskine. Nieces and nephews also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Roy Johnson; sister, Agnes (Johnson) Hovland; and stepson, Robert Agar.Honorary Pallbearers will be Vernon Berg, Wilson Galland, Randy Lee, Art Olson and Ogden Farder, Jr.Active Pallbearers will be Leslie Alme, Ray Hovland, Andrew Alme, Merlyn Alme, Dave Johnson and David Johnson.
