Thomas Horgeshimer, age 61, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Sunday (December 13th) at the Poplar Meadows Senior Living facility in McIntosh. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday (December 18th) at the McIntosh Community Center with Monsignor Roger Grundhaus officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (December 17th) and for one hour prior to the service, all at the McIntosh Community Center. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Thomas Francis Horgeshimer was born on March 4, 1948 in Minot, North Dakota to Babe Victoria Horgeshimer. Thomas was raised by his grandparents, Theodore and Elizabeth Mae Horgeshimer in Deering, North Dakota. Tom attended grade school two miles from his home in a one room country school. In 1964, the family moved to Mentor, Minnesota where he attended Mentor High School, graduating in 1966. Tom met Theresa Bauer in the summer of 1969 and after a brief courtship, they were married on October 25, 1969. Following their marriage, they made their home near Mentor. Tom was employed by Detrioter's Mobile Home Manufacturing in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota from 1969 until 1978. On April 13, 1971 they were blessed with a daughter, Theresa Renae and on June 3, 1973 they were blessed with a son, Darwin Thomas. In 1978, Tom left Detroiter's and started with Burlington Northern Railroad where he continued to work until becoming disabled in December of 2005. Tom enjoyed the outdoors. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and working on cars. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with friends and family. Most days he could be found in his shop with an Old Milwaukee in hand, listening to music and visiting with friends. After being diagnosed with cancer, Tom and Theresa moved to Poplar Meadows in McIntosh. Tom passed away at home with his family by his side. He will long be missed and lovingly remembered. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Theresa of McIntosh; one son, Darwin (Cheryl) of Park Rapids, MN; daughter, Renae of McIntosh; four grandchildren, Alyssa Mae, Hunter Lee, Zoey Victoria, and Wyatt Thomas.He was preceded in death by his mother, Babe Horgeshimer in 1992; his grandparents, Theodore in 1988 and Elizabeth in 1994; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom's grandchildren.Active Pallbearers will be Terry Finn, Gary Moran, Jeff Evenson, Mark Evenson, Wayne "Gus" Gustafson, Dennis Tice, and Dale Schabacker.
