Tess Berge, age 100 of Fosston, MN passed away on Wednesday, June 10th at Essentia Health First Care Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 15th at 10:30 AM at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Dan Cole and Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church on Monday morning, and interment will be at Kingo Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to go to the Kingo Lutheran Church Building Fund. Theresa "Tess" Helen Ostenaa was born September 26, 1914 to Albert and Louise (Bergdahl) Ostenaa in McIntosh, Minnesota. She had two brothers and two sisters. Tess was baptized and confirmed by Rev. K. O. Hildahl of Hope Lutheran Church. She attended the Bergdahl School for grades 1 through 8, then attended Fosston High School, graduating in 1931 at the age of 16.In June of 1932, Tess earned a certificate in elementary education from Moorhead Teachers College. She taught at country schools in the Fosston and Winger, Minnesota area.Art Berge and Tess were married November 21, 1940 in Fosston. They farmed and were part owners of Berge Peterson Implement.As a member of Kingo Lutheran Church for 75 years, Tess was active in Ladies Aid, circle, Friday school and many other church related activities. Her hobbies included sewing, counted cross stitch, quilting, reading, entertaining, and vegetable and flower gardening.Tess passed away June 10, 2015 at Essentia Health First Care Living Center in Fosston at the age of 100 years.She was preceded in death by her husband, Art, in 1997; her parents; two brothers, Torry and Palmer; and two sisters, Alta and Clarice.She will lovingly be remembered by daughters Nancy Berge of Fosston, and Sharon (Rich) Yeager of Laporte, MN; two grandchildren Mark (Nancy) Bjerken of Colorado, and Marsha (Tom) Walls of Wisconsin. Also surviving Tess are five great grandchildren, a special sister-in-law, Beverly Ostenaa, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.Blessed be her memory
