Theresa Aakhus

Theresa "Tracy" Aakhus, age 85, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Tuesday (November 17th) at First Care Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (November 23rd) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Ryan Rasmussen officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday (November 22nd) and for one hour prior to the service on Monday, all at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh.Theresa "Tracy" Sophie Aakus was born to John and Bernadine (Luecken) Keim on February 7, 1924 at Beaulieu, Minnesota. She moved to McIntosh at a young age and attended school in McIntosh. She married Andy Aakhus on February 14, 1942. They farmed small grain, potatoes, chickens, and cattle. In the early 1960's Tracy started working at Felix Café. She later worked at the McIntosh Bakery and at Mac Manor Nursing Home until she retired in the late 1990's. She lived on the Aakhus homestead until January of 2007. She moved to the Poplar Meadows Senior Living apartments and lived there until October of 2009.She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh. Tracy passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 85 years.Survivors include her four children, Eileen (Sidney) Nelson of Moorhead, MN, Duwain (Bonnie Swanson) of Ham Lake, MN, Paul (Beverly Fritz) of Erskine, MN, and Barbara (William) Marshall of Chesapeake, VA; 15 grandchildren, Del (Linda) Nelson, Jerry (Debbie) Nelson, Tommy (Julie) Nelson, Andy (Lisa) Nelson, Jolene Nelson, Mary Nelson, Steve (Kim) Aakhus, Tammy Larsen, Sherry Aakhus, Jason (Bobbi) Aakhus, Jeff (Laura) Aakhus, Justin (Sami) Aakhus, Jacob Aakhus, Shawn Marshall and Chad Marshall; 8 great grandchildren, Zachariah, Katie, Brenner and Emily Nelson, Natalie, Jordan, Allison and Bobby Aakhus. 6 step grandchildren, Matt, Josh, Alexis, Luke, Phenix and Piper.Also surviving are siblings, Katherine Killian, Gertrude Antel, John Keim, Jr., Mary Lou (Mack) Campbell, RoseMarie Manetas, Shirley Ann (John) Ayotte, Patricia (John) Dulmage, Roxanne Lanners and sister-in-law, Ethel Keim.She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy in 1978; her parents, John and Bernadine; brothers Frank, Melvin, Harold and Ronald; sisters, Mary, Margaret and Angeline Lowe; brothers-in-law, Cornellis Killian, Charles Antel, Mark Garrett, John Manetas, and Bruce Lanners; sisters-in-law, Lil Keim, Rose Keim and Susie Keim; and several nieces and nephews.
