Sue Westfall, age 68, of rural Fosston, MN, passed away on Monday, February 23rd, at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Sue's wishes were to hold no services at this time. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com. Susan Faye Westfall was born on February 20, 1947 in Oakdale, California to Earl and Hazel Pauline Westfall. She grew up at graduated from high school in California. She lived in California for several years before moving to Minnesota where she lived in Hawley and Pierz. Then, due to health issues, Sue moved to Underwood, North Dakota and lived near her daughter, Darla, and then with her sister, Nancy and her family (husband Randy and son Malakye) Larsen, near Fosston. Sue was diagnosed with cancer in February of 2013. After a long battle at home and a short stay in the First Care Nursing Home in Fosston, she passed away there at the age of 68 years. Sue enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and tending flowers. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her pets. Her grandchildren were so important to her. She is survived by her daughter, Darla (Russ) Helseth of Underwood, ND; one son, David (Val) Shaw of Lake Park, MN; grandsons, Levi Chase of Bismarck, ND, Brandon Chase of Lastrup, MN, Shane Shaw of Lake Park, MN; granddaughters Samantha and Brianna Shaw, Underwood, MN; and sisters, Nancy (Randy) Larsen of Fosston, and Deb Ballard of Fosston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Johnny Westfall and her soul mate, Wayne Nelson.
