Steve Hoaas, age 58, from Erskine, MN passed away on Monday, April 19th at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (April 24th) at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with Lee Hoaas officiating. Interment will be in Broderheim Cemetery, rural Erskine. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (April 23rd) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Bailey-Throne American Legion Post #596 of Erskine and arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Stephan Martin Hoaas was born on July 2, 1951 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Andor and Roberta Hoaas. He spent his early childhood years in Erskine, Minnesota. After the death of his father Andor in 1957, his mother Roberta married Clifford Anderson in 1959. In 1960, the family moved to Warren, Minnesota where Steve graduated from Warren High School in 1969. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and was confirmed in the Methodist faith. Steve served in the United States Army for three years, beginning in August of 1970. He spent most of his tour in Germany, and was honorably discharged in May of 1973. Steve was married to Liz Mayer on June 30, 1973 and they had two children Camillia and Jerrod Hoaas.Steve spent many years in Tennessee and various southern states doing electrical work. In 1990, Steve returned to Minnesota. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors. He had a life-long love for animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed watching birds and wildlife all seasons of the year. Steve loved visiting with friends and family and will be missed by many. Sisters: Barbara (Steven) Gaalswyk of Erskine; Patricia (Larry) Sandberg of Ottertail, MN; Geraldine (Marcell) Rogalla of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Charlotte (Kurt) Krueger of Grand Rapids, MN. Brothers: Leland (Sherry) Hoaas of Erskine, MN; and Bryan (Sue) Anderson of Casper, WY.
