Sidney Norstuen

Sidney Norstuen, age 81, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, October 11th, at Essentia First Care Living Center in Fosston. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th, at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston with Marilyn Malmanger officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Sidney James Norstuen was born on June 16, 1935 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Tom and Minnie(Myhrum) Norstuen. He grew up and attended rural school north of Fosston. Sidney was united in marriage to Gloria Pederson on September 6, 1958 in Oklahoma. After their marriage they lived in Oklahoma and Washington while Sidney was in the U.S. Army. They moved to Fosston for a short time before moving to their home inQueen Township where they farmed and raised their family. Sidney took over the farm from his father and farmed there most of his life. When his wife became ill, he sold the livestock , rented the farmland and retired to take care of her. Gloria passed away on October 30, 1997. Due to health problems, Sidney recently entered the Essentia First Care Living Center where he passed away on October 11, 2016 at the age of 81 years.Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Paula) of Kansas City, MO, and their son, Logan; and Tom of Princeton, MN, and his son, Nick; and one sister, Margaret Kildal of Fosston. He was preceded in death by his wife; and his parents.
