Sheldon Delage, age 68, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday (November 24th) at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (November 30th) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Brooks, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday (November 29th) and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Sheldon Willie Jr. Delage was born on January 6, 1942 in Poplar River Township, rural Red Lake Falls, Minnesota to parents Willie and Nora (Trudeau) Delage. He grew up in Poplar River Township and attended school in Plummer, Minnesota. He was confirmed in 1949 at St. Joseph's Church in Brooks. Following school, he helped his folks on the family farm for several years before moving to the Twin Cities for a short time. He returned to the area, settling in Crookston, Minnesota. Sheldon was employed at American Crystal Sugar in Crookston for 25 years until his retirement. Sheldon was married to Shirley Olness on November 29, 1974 in Sisseton, South Dakota. After their marriage, they lived in Crookston for 10 years and then near the Rydell Refuge near Erskine, Minnesota. For the past six years, they have resided in McIntosh, Minnesota. Although Sheldon suffered with health problems, he never complained and was thankful for his many blessings. Sheldon liked to hunt, fish, and work with small engines. He enjoyed singing, generously sharing his talents at area nursing homes. He and Shirley have been dedicated volunteers at McIntosh Senior Living for many years. He will be remembered for having a heart of passion for others and most intimately as a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Sheldon passed away early Wednesday morning, November 24, 2010 at his home in McIntosh at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 18 days. Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley of McIntosh; four children, LaVaida Olson of Castaic, CA, Elling (Monica) Olson of Chanhassen, MN, Susie Olson of Mankato, MN, and Clarence Olson of Fargo, ND; two grandchildren, Zachary and Parker; nine siblings, Donald (Deloris) of Nisswa, MN, Harvey (Rose) of Thief River Falls, MN, Yvonne Kush of Aurora, MN, Madonna (Robert) Polta of Rosemount, MN, Richard (Karen) of Brooks, MN, Mary (Gene) Christianson of Franksville, WI, Lucille (Robert) Weiss of Oxnard, CA, Paulette (Larry) Johnson of Pahrump, NV, and Diane (Lewis) Westlake of Moorhead, MN; and one sister-in-law, Joanne Bradley of Brooks, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert.
