Sena Hanson

Sena Hanson, age 88, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Tuesday (February 9th) at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday (February 15th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Erskine, in the spring. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Sena Cecelia Rost was born on April 23, 1921 at rural Winger, Minnesota to parents Erick and Helena (Jensen) Rost. She grew up in rural Winger and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Loren Hanson on August 31, 1946. After their marriage, they farmed near Erskine, Minnesota. They moved to Plentywood, Montana and farmed for a couple of years before returning to Erskine. Upon Loren's retirement, they resided in the country near Brook, Minnesota for 12 years. From Brooks, they moved back to Erskine for 10 years. Loren passed away November 5, 1991 at the age of 82. Sena then lived at the Summerfield Apartments in Erskine and the Poplar Meadows Senior Living in McIntosh before becoming a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine in June 26, 2006. Sena was known for her cooking and baking, especially her buns. She also enjoyed traveling around the area shopping with family. Sena was the last surviving sibling in a family of 16 children.Sena passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 17 days.She is survived by her son, Larry (Sharon) Hanson of Erskine; step grandson, Tim Rhode of Mentor; and son, Paul (Lynn) Kunnick of Brooklyn Center, MN; two grandchildren, Mike and Cindy; nephews, Alan (Ardis) Johnson of Pelican Rapids, MN, Sherman (Carol) Johnson of Brooklyn Center, MN, Randy (Vivian) Johnson of Paynesville, MN, and Alvin (Sue) Rost of Pelican Rapids, MN; and niece, Bonnie (David) Larson of Alexandria, MN; special sister-in-law, Agnes Rost of Crookston, MN. Two sisters-in-law, Vivian Hanson of Erskine along with her five children and their families, and Ruth Hanson of Erskine, along with her three children and their families. Many nieces and nephews also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings, Karolina, Martha, Julia, Esther, Segney, Helmer, Nels, Jonas, Marin, Neon, Teon, Oliver, Emil, Alvin, and Julius.Pallbearers will be Scott Hanson, Darryn Hanson, Milo Oppegaard, Stuart Bensen, Bob Morris, and Alan Johnson.
