Scott Nelson, age 63, of Lengby, MN, passed away on Saturday, July 27th, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3rd, at Poplar Lake Lutheran Church, rural Fosston, with the Rev. Andrew Verkus officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Scott Joe Nelson was born on November 21, 1955 to Joel and Winnifred (Stenseng) Nelson in Bagley, Minnesota. After graduating from Bagley High School in 1974 he went to the American Free Lutheran Bible School in Plymouth, Minnesota. In the spring of 1976 at a regional youth convention at a church in McIntosh, Minnesota he met Debra Marie Bjorgaard of Newfolden, Minnesota. They married August 13, 1977. They had two children, Andrea and Matthew.Scott worked varying jobs including home building, owning and operating the glass shop of Bagley, a teen group home and recently at Lutheran Social Services and Home at Heart.Throughout his life he had an unwavering faith and trust in God. That faith led him to teach Sunday School, lead Bible Study, and be on numerous church councils and committees locally, regionally and nationally. His greatest legacy lies in the salvation of his children, grandchildren, and countless others. He is greatly missed by all who loved him, yet have peace that he is now in the presence of his Creator. 2 Corinthians 5.Scott returned to his heavenly home on July 27, 2019 after a complicated battle with an infection. His devotion to Jesus Christ, the church, and his family upheld him through the past years of pain, and now he is at peace in the presence of God Almighty.Scott is survived by his wife, Debra, of Lengby; his children, Andrea (Jason) Allen of Duluth, MN, Matt (Lizeth) Nelson of Lengby, MN; his adored grandchildren, Abigail, Elijah, Hannah, Olivia, and Emma; his mother, Winnifred Rholl; and siblings, Wendy (Doug) Larsen, Joann (Virgil) Olson, Brenda (Carl) Nelson, Chad (Michelle) Nelson, Jolene (Leonard) Thompson, and John (McKenzie) Taylor.He was preceded in death by his father, Joel.
