One day while plowing with a team of horses she was quickly thrown from the plow as she hit a sizeable rock. The horses quickly stopped, and she credits that to the watchful care of her loving Savior. On October 31, 1934 she married Ole E. Vigoren; this by the way was a double wedding with her older sister Judith who married Elling Olson who is a second cousin to Ole.Ruth had ten children, one died at three weeks of age in 1938. She was a hard worker and one of the very best bread bakers. During the early years of grain harvest, she would rise at 4 a.m. to start the bread baking process. One week she baked 36 loaves of bread for her large family. She enjoyed a daily walk with her Savior; you would find her humming and singing as she went about her work. She was not very tall, but she could surely move quickly. There were a couple of Scripture verses that she often made reference to, they were Deuteronomy 33:25b "And as thy days, so shall thy strength be." Also, I Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon Him; for He shall careth for you." She definitely found her daily comfort and strength from the Lord.Ruth passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2008 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston at the age of 94 years, six months and 18 days. She will definitely be missed by her large surviving family, including eight children, Omer (Reta) of Port Angeles, WA, Wyonne (Ken) Anderson of Gilbert, MN, Vernon (Patti) of Rainier, OR, Gary (Judy) of Longview, WA, Lowell (Fay) of Bremerton, WA, Sharon (Ken) Clayton of Tempe, AZ, Ralph (Judy) of Gully, MN, and Steve (Sheila) of Gilbert, MN; 28 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Diana Vigoren of Rainier, OR.She is also survived by four sisters, Judith (Elling) Olson of Fosston, Martha Roue of Fosston, Esther Dearborn of Washington state and Mildred (Harris) Broin of Duluth, MN.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ole of 69 years in 2004; her son Don in 1997; infant son Darrel in 1938; infant grandson Ryan Clayton in 1984 and infant great grandson Blaine Maloney in 1986; her parents; two brothers, Rueben and Joseph Mickelson and one sister, Mary A.
