Ruth Trulsen, age 89, of Fosston, MN passed away on Sunday (January 20th) at Midway Care Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (January 24th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston with the Rev. Arvid Salvhus officiating. Interment will be in St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery, rural Bagley. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Ruth Emelia Sovick was born on May 26, 1918 in Columbia Township, rural Fosston, Minnesota to parents Hans and Hilda (Solberg) Sovick. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on November 19, 1933 and attended the Maple Hill rural school through the eighth grade. Ruth was united in marriage to Leonard R. Trulsen on October 27, 1947 in Erskine, Minnesota by Rev. Skogerboe. After their marriage, they lived on a farm northeast of Fosston and Ruth helped Leonard wrap meat in McIntosh and Bagley. In the fall of 1967, they moved from the farm to Fosston.Ruth did housekeeping for Ruth Hole and, in 1973, began work at the old Fosston Hospital and nursing home. During her employment time, the building was sold to Allan and Judy Potvin and renamed Midway Care Center. In the summer of 1976, Ruth quit work at Midway due to health problems.She returned to work in 1981 with the City of Fosston, working housekeeping duties at the Library Arts Center, Fosston City Office and the Fosston Police Station. She also worked for two and a half years cleaning for chiropractor Dr. Harry Fink at his office.Ruth retired in the summer of 1995 due to Leonard's failing health. After he passed away in the spring of 1996, Ruth continued to live at home with her son, Wesley. She continued on with her love of her flowers and plants and hosting birthday parties for her brother and sisters.In recent years, Ruth's health needed more care after having trouble with her kidney. She entered the hospital in Fosston and then Midway Care Center in Fosston. After a few weeks in her new home and with her health fading, she started to adjust with the care of a loving staff at Midway.Ruth passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Midway Care Center at the age of 89 years.Survivors include one daughter, Arlys (Melvin) Wayrynen of Fosston; son, Wesley Trulsen of Fosston; two sisters, twin sister, Rebecca Rud and Helen Sovick, both of Fosston; one daughter-in-law, Tina Trulsen of Twin Lake, MI.; five grandchildren, Kelly (Edward) Mickelson and Karen White (friend, Pete), all of Nashwauk, MN, Keith White (friend, Rochelle) of Blaine, MN, Jennie Trulsen and Matthew Trulsen, both of Twin Lake, MI; four great grandchildren, Kassandra (Kyle) Hilborn of Puyallup, WA, Jenissa Mickelson and Blake Mickelson, both of Nashwauk, MN and Erik Lyle Trulsen of Twin Lake, MI.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 1996; one son, Lyle Trulsen in 1990; one sister, Evelyn S. Borud; four brothers, Harold, Carl, Clifford and Leonard; and one nephew, Maynard Sovick.
