Ruth Nord, age 78, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Friday (December 3rd) at First Care Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (December 8th) at the Fosston Baptist Church with Pastor Skip Hansen officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday (December 7th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Ruth Mildred Nord was born on June 28, 1932 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents John and Selma (Lund) Nord. She grew up in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1950. Ruth was employed by the Fosston Hospital and Dr. Stolpestad before moving to Minneapolis where she worked at the Bloomington Clinic. After her retirement in 1994, she returned to Fosston. Ruth was a dedicated volunteer in her church and in the community. While in Minneapolis she was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and was member of the Fosston Baptist Church where she was also active for many years. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the D.A.C. in Fosston, treasurer of the East Polk County Cancer Society and secretary of the Heritage Center in Fosston.Ruth passed away peacefully on Friday, December 3, 2010 at First Care Living Center in Fosston at the age of 78 years, five months and five days.Ruth is survived by one sister, Lydia Zappa of Fridley, MN; and three brothers, Elmer (Frances) of Fosston, Glen (Janet) of Maple Grove, MN, and Dennis (Jacki) of LaSalle, IL.; sister-in-law, Vivian Nord of Fosston; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Berdella; and brothers, Lester and Arthur.
