Russell Dyrdahl, age 88, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday (July 13th) at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday (July 18th) at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby, MN with Scott Morey and Rev. John Dalen officiating. Interment will be in Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lengby. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday (July 17th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Spring Lake VFW Post #2759 of Lengby. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Russell was born July 16, 1919 in Eden township near Gully to parents Anton and Olive (Kjos) Dyrdahl. He was Baptized and confirmed at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully and attended Sunnyside school.The family moved West of Gonvick in 1929. He worked for the CCC's for 2 years prior to being drafted. He served in the Army during WWII from 1941 to 1944 where he fought in the battle of the Kasserine Pass in north Africa. He moved to Lengby in 1946.He married Delores Rotness June 2, 1956 at the Fridhem Lutheran parsonage in Lengby. They moved to Schroeder, MN for one year, then moved back to Lengby. Russell worked road construction and various other jobs.Russell and Delores moved to Fosston in March 2007.Russell Dyrdahl of Fosston, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 27 days.He is survived by his wife, Delores of Fosston; two sons, Douglas (Mary) Dyrdahl of Lengby, and Donald (Karen) Dyrdahl of Fosston; two daughters, Lynda Dyrdahl (Jim) of Lengby, and Lizabeth (Richard) Hanson of Fosston; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; one brother, Arnold Dyrdahl of Grand Rapids, MN; three sisters, Verna Kammen of Roseau, MN, Gertrude Klatt of Pueblo of CO, and Margret Lindberg of Buffalo, MN; one sister-in-law, Wanda Dyrdahl of Gonvick, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mabel Berg, two brothers, Eugene Dyrdahl and Lester Dyrdahl.Pallbearers will be Lee Hanson, Brady Jones, Brandon Dyrdahl, Joshua Zinski, Jarod Jacobsen, and Paul Kalinoski.
