Rudy Larson, age 90, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday, January 9th, 2022, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby, MN with the Rev. Gene Lillienthal officiating. Interment will be in Cross Lake Cemetery, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Naval Honors Team. Rudolph Alvin Larson was born on September 14, 1931, in Columbia Township, Minnesota to parents Adolph and Inga (Ingberg) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at Cross Lake Lutheran Church and graduated from Fosston High School in 1950. After high school, Rudy entered the United States Navy during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in 1954 and returned home.

Rudy was united in marriage to Alice Yvonne Hagen at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on July 17, 1955 in McIntosh, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived in Fosston where they raised their four children, Randy, Michael, Lorri Ann, and Scott. During his working years, Rudy worked in sales for Gilgosh and Kane of Minneapolis, KEHG Radio in Fosston, and The Shopper out of Halstad, Minnesota until his retirement in 2001. Yvonne passed away on December 3, 2011. Rudy has continued to live in Fosston, most recently at Cornerstone Assisted Living.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby and the V.F.W. and American Legion Clubs.

Rudy loved to visit, reminisce, and share a good joke. Most of all, he loved getting together with his children and grandchildren. He was always very thankful for his life and family. Rudy always said, “When the bell rings it’s over and I have lived a good life.”

Survivors include three children, Mike (Jeannie) of Elko, MN, Lorri Ann (Dean) Hartel of Red Lake Falls, MN, and Scott (Patty) of Lakeville, MN; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Jen) Larson, Amanda Woolen, Travis (Jenny) Larson, Trevor Larson, Shawna (Tedd) Nelson, Joe (Becca) Hartel, Rachael Larson; step grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Snow, Kari Truh, and Kenny Truh.

Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law, Judy Hagen of McIntosh, Richard (Karen) Hagen of Minnetonka, MN, Mars (Pam) Hagen of Apple Valley, MN, Deanne Benson of Thief River Falls, MN, and Karen (Pat) Rolf of McIntosh. Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Yvonne; son, Randy; grandson, Jeffrey Larson; brother, Lawrence Larson, sisters, Bertha Kittelson and Helen Guldberg; and brothers-in-laws, Clarence Brustad, Godfred Guldberg, Ronald Hagen,  Gordy Benson, David Hagen and sister-in-law Joanne Carver.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Jeremy Larson, Amanda Woolen, Travis Larson, Trevor Larson, Joseph Hartel, Rachael Larson, and Shawna Nelson.
