Roy Parsley, age 80 of Bemidji, MN and formerly from Oklee, MN passed away on Friday, July 20th at the Neilson Place in Bemidji. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24th at 1:00 PM at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston, MN with Rev. Margaret Jacobus officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the funeral home, and interment will be in Dodge Cemetery in Pinewood, MN. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Roy Rudolph Parsley, the third child born to James and Inga (Johnson) Parsley, on March 7, 1932 in Brooks, Minnesota. In 1953, Roy joined the Army, where he was a corporal and served in the Korean War until he was discharged in 1954.On October 13, 1956, in Crookston, Minnesota Roy married Shirley Iverson. They moved to Racine, Wisconsin where he worked at the Peter Cooper factory until they moved to Lengby, Minnesota in 1978. While living in Lengby, Roy worked many jobs, including delivering papers, working on farms, fixing up vehicles, hunting, and trapping. In 2001, Roy and Shirley moved to Oklee, Minnesota where he completely retired.On Friday, July 20, 2012, Roy passed away at the Neilson Place in Bemidji, Minnesota at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his sons, Steve (Sandra) of Audubon, MN, LeRoy (Cynthia) of Racine, WI and daughter Michelle (Angela) Parsley of Bemidji, MN; five sisters, Virginia, Arlene, Ruth, Judy and Marina; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Milo, one sister Daisy, wife Shirley, and one son, Robert.
