Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at carlinhoialmen.com.Roy Landmann was born on March 17, 1927 to Rudolph Carl Julius Landmann and Laura Marie (Larson) Landmann in the township of St. Hilare Minnesota.Roy grew up west of St.Hilare farming the land with his father. This era of farming during tough economic times with equipment not up to today's standard created strong and hearty people, relying on helping one another. The true spirit of the farmer in him always led him to lend a hand when someone needed help or a neighborly favor.Roy was united in marriage to Joanne (Larson) Landmann on October 17, 1953. They lived on a farm just east of Highway 59. Also, they lived in Thief River Falls for a short time. They moved to the twin cities around 1964 to a suburb called Shoreview. Roy worked at Iten Chevrolet for many years as a parts manager. Roy also tried the entrepreneurship of operating a small business selling and installing rain gutters for several years. He also drove truck for different business owners transporting many goods. In their younger days, Roy and Joanne went polka dancing almost every Saturday night. They also enjoyed bowling on league teams. It's interesting where and how our journey takes us places and always seems to bring us home. After living in Shoreview for many years and creating many friends and neighbors the shift began to get back to their roots. Roy and Joanne moved to Isanti. Then Bruce owned some property in Stanchfield where Roy and Joanne made a home on an adjoining property. This helped Roy get back to his roots of having a tractor and farming some land. Then in 2006 they moved to Oklee where they completed their journey in life. Even until 2013 Roy still owned a super M tractor. On Monday, February 17, 2014 one month before his 87th birthday God was calling him home and Roy peacefully passed away at the Ultra Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota at the age of 86.Roy is survived by his sister Marlyce (Landmann) Luth, three sons Jeffery Landmann of Grand Forks, N.D., Gary & Sarah Landmann of White City Oregon, Bruce & (fiancé Patty Hallick) Landmann of Oklee Minnesota, five grandchildren, Derek Landmann, Cady Landmann, Julia Landmann, Chad Landmann and Jill(Landmann) Anderson, and three great grandchildren, Hanna Anderson, Lilly Anderson and Natalie Landmann.Roy was preceded in death by both his parents Rudy and Laura, one sister Olive Mae (Landmann) Larson.
