Rosella Disrud

Rosella Disrud, age 91, from Fosston, MN passed away on Tuesday, April 6th at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10th at 11:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church, and interment will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston. Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Sympathy messages may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Rosella Juliatte Nelson was born August 26, 1918 to Elvin and Anna (Lee) Nelson on a farm in Moscow Township in Freeborn County, near Austin, MN. When she was 2 years old, she moved with her family to a farm near Gonvick, MN. Rosella was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1936.Rosella married Roy Miller in 1940. They made their home in Fosston, MN, with a brief time spent in Skokie, IL. They had three sons, Duane, Ron and Larry. Roy passed away in 1959.Rosella was a hard worker, with most of her time spent working as a retail clerk at Francin's, later known as Thoreen's Variety Store in Fosston. She also enjoyed several years working as a cook at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.Rosella married Melvin Disrud in 1971. They made their home on Melvin's farm near Fosston, and farmed until retirement in 1985, at which time they moved into Fosston. While retired they loved gardening and making crafts together. Melvin passed away in 2004.Rosella was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. She had a green thumb for both flower and vegetable gardening. With her strong Norwegian Heritage she enjoyed making lefse, flatbread, krumkaka, and had many other wonderful cooking talents. In her later years she resided at First Care Assisted Living, and the last 2 years, she resided at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston.On Tuesday, April 6, 2010 Rosella Disrud passed away at First Care Nursing Home at the age of 91 years.Survivors include sons, Ron (Jo) Miller of Bagley, MN and Larry (Tami) Miller of Fosston; step children, Gordon (Shirley) Disrud of Blaine, MN, Margie (Don) Bolme, Dellas (Vi) Disrud, Donna (John) Peterson, and Tim (Denise) Disrud all of Fosston; step son-in-law, Ron Juve of Fosston; brothers, Norman Nelson of Dixon, CA and Willard Nelson of Kennewick, WA; sister, Bernice Nelson of Twin Valley, MN; sister-in-law, Doris Nelson of Rockport, MA; 30 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and many other relatives.She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Roy Miller and Melvin Disrud; son, Duane Miller; sister, Caroll Farrington; brothers, Ernest Nelson and Jerome Nelson; step daughter, Janice Juve; and grandchildren, Loren Juve and Brian Peterson.
