Rodney Myhrum, age 82 from Moorhead and formerly from Fosston, MN passed away on Saturday, December 22nd at Golden Living Center in Moorhead. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29th at 2:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church on Saturday and interment will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston. Myhrum was born August 12, 1930 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Melvin and Minnie (Haltli) Berg Myhrum.He attended Cloverdale Country School, District 237, rural Fosston through the eighth grade and Fosston High School, graduating in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 with one year in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Tangen Walstrom Post 114 in Fosston. After his discharge from the Army, he worked at various jobs until 1957 when he went to work for Offerdahl Hartz Foods where he remained for 40 years, retiring in 1997.In 1959, Rodney was married to Betty Lou Flermoen of Winger. They had four children, Brenda, Paulette, David and Susan.He married Marian Larson in 1976 and together they owned and operated the Rest Easy Board and Lodging Home and later the Bow-Wow Shop in Fosston. He also worked with his wife Marian in the 4-H Club's Dog Project program in a number of area towns.Rodney loved to sing and play guitar entertaining at nursing homes and various programs and for over 30 years he helped the Rotarians entertain the first graders at Christmas time. He received the Fosston Service Award in 1995 for his many community efforts and served as Vice-President of the Fosston Embassy Community Center Board of Directors.On Saturday, December 22, 2012 Rodney passed away at Golden Living Center in Moorhead, MN at the age of 82 years.He is survived by daughter, Susan Haugen and son, David Myhrum of Winger, MN; three grandchildren, Stacey, Kjersti and Chelsey; nieces, Diane and husband, Wayne Omundson of Fosston and Patti and husband, Tim Brosseau of Bottineau, ND and nephew, Bruce Kildal and his wife Debbie of Crookston, MN; several grandnieces and nephews, cousins and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian; his daughters, Brenda and Paulette; and sister, Grace Kildal.
