Robert Anderson

Robert S. Anderson, age 94, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Monday, January 9th, at Cornerstone Living Extended Care in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16th, at Poplar Lake Lutheran Church, rural Fosston, with the Rev. John Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the National Guard Honors Team. Robert Sverre Anderson was born on August 10, 1922 in Bagley, Minnesota to parents Andrew and Ingeborg Anderson. He grew up near Bagley and attended country school at Maple Hill School and then Fosston High School. Robert entered the United States Navy in September of 1942 and served during World War II on the U.S.S. St. Louis. He faithfully served his country until receiving his honorable discharge in December of 1945. He returned home and was married to Marilyn Eloise Beckstrom on March 21, 1948. After their marriage, they lived in Minneapolis, Crookston and then settled at home east of Fosston. Robert worked for many years at the Land O Lakes plant in Fosston until his retirement. They moved into Fosston in 2000 where they have resided since. He was a member of Poplar Lake Lutheran Church. He enjoyed yard work, hunting, fishing, and trapping. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, of Fosston; five children, Steve (Michelle) of Gentilly, MN, Dan (Renee) of Fosston, Leslie (Theresa) of Fosston, Marlene (Tim) Johnson of Lengby, and Randall (Marti) of Fosston; 15 grandchildren, Dwight Johnson, Brandon (Chelsie) Johnson, Kaci Anderson, Sean (Kristine) Anderson, Morgan Anderson, Sam Anderson, Reid (Melissa) Anderson, Liz (William) Glasgow, Brian (Heather) Potack, Steve (Rochelle) Anderson Jr., Larissa Hardin, Tanya Lanctot, Carrie (Ben) Herberg, Heath Lanctot, and Nathan (Adriana) Lanctot; 25 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Norman Anderson and Erling Anderson, both of Fosston; two sisters Esther Carlson of Park River, ND, and Elsie Gullekson of Fertile, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph, Ingvald, and Alf; and sisters, Agnes Potter, Thelma Hanson, Mabel Anderson, and Norma Brown; brother-in-law, Alton Beckstrom, sister-in-law, Mavis (LeRoy) Reib; and one infant grandchild. Pallbearers will be Roberts grandchildren.
