Reuben E. Hanson, age 78, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday (July 3rd) at his home. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday (July 8th) at Rodnes Lutheran Church, rural Erskine, with the Rev. Peter Satren officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the Tangen-Walstrom American Legion Post #114 of Fosston. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Reuben Earl Hanson was born on October 17, 1931 on their home farm in Grove Park Township, Minnesota to parents Edwin and Sedate (Johnson) Hanson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Mentor, graduating in 1950. Reuben faithfully served his country in the Unites States Army during the Korean Conflict. After receiving his honorable discharge, Reuben married Elda Lee Weiby of Erskine on April 11, 1959. They lived most of their 51 years of marriage in Fosston. Reuben began employment with Land O' Lakes in Fosston in March of 1962 and retired in May of 1993 after 31 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Rodnes Lutheran Church for the past several years.Reuben passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010 surrounded by his loving wife and children at Prairie Pines in Fosston at the age of 78 years, eight months and 16 days.Survivors include his wife, Elda of Fosston; three children, Kevin (DeAnna) Hanson of Chanhassen, MN, Glenda (Todd) Pottsmith of Stacy, MN, and Debra (Terry) Sonju of Red Lake Falls, MN; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruby Kinser and Byrde Ireland, both of Griswold, IA.He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter; two sisters; one niece and two nephews.
