Phyllis Vikan, age 73, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Friday (July 5th) at the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Silver Bay, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (July 13th) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Manuel Sundaram presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Fosston. Phyllis attended the Moen one-room country school in rural Fosston through the 8th grade. She graduated from Fosston High School in 1958. That same year, Phyllis was crowned Queen - Fosston Jubilee.Phyllis married Dean Vikan in June of 1960 at the Catholic Church in Fosston. She followed Dean through 20+ moves during his 25 year career in the US Air Force and a 12 year career with Lockheed Corporation. They returned to Fosston in March of 1997 where they made their retirement home on Sand Hill Lake. One of her favorite hobbies was making custom personalized clowns for her family and friends.Phyllis is survived by her husband Dean, son Todd (Ramona)Vikan of Centerville, OH; daughter Wende (Jeff)Sheets of Franklin, TN; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and sisters Janice Macho and Dorothy (Wayne) Paulson of Fosston.She was preceded in death by her parents, Ercel and Ole Lundhagen, two sisters, Sue Olson and Lois Wynne, and 3 brothers-in-law, Bud Olson, Dick Wynne and Donald Macho.
