Phyllis Kiecker

Phyllis Kiecker, age 87, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Thursday (September 25th) at the Mahnomen Health Care Nursing Home in Mahnomen, MN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday (September 29th) at Vernes Lutheran Church, rural McIntosh with the Rev. Paul Maglessen officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Phyllis Hazel Peterson Kiecker was born on June 29, 1927 in Hill River Township, Minnesota to parents Helmer and Hannah Halland Peterson. She grew up in Hill River Township and attended the Lindsay country school. Following school, she lived and worked at the church parsonage in Fosston for Reverend Megordon's family.Phyllis was united in marriage to Laurence Kiecker on September 4, 1946 in the parsonage by Reverend Megordon. After their marriage, they lived and raised their children in McIntosh. Phyllis was a dedicated and faithful worker at the Mac Manor Nursing Home in McIntosh for 38 years until her retirement. As the eldest daughter of nine children, caring for her family came as second nature to her. She had a nurturing and gentle soul and had an especially strong passion for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended as many of her family's events that she could whether it was sports, plays, concerts or any other activity. Her family was truly a light in her life. She was a member of Vernes Lutheran Church. She loved to read and knit; and especially enjoyed knitting dish cloths for family and friends.Survivors include her six children, Betty (Robert) Tangen of McIntosh, Lois Kaupang of Winger, MN, Sharon (Robert) Philion of Maple Grove, MN, Ilene Reierson of Fosston, MN, Deloris Laubenstein of Lake Villa, IL, and Paul (Linda) Kiecker of McIntosh; 19 grandchildren, Kristen (Robert) Kimmell, Ryan (Rory) Tangen, Erin (Mike) Magelky, Nathan (Sonya) Tangen, Bill (Edna) Kaupang, Scott Kaupang, Amy (Jesse) Sherman, Kyle Kaupang, Adrianne Philion, Jako Philion, Mitchell (Sheila) Reierson, Jamie (Daren) Muscha, Kimberly (Will) Waldron, Amber (Jeff) Nelson, Amanda (Ryan) Cruz, Alyssa (Ken) Adelizzi, Allison Laubenstein, Brandon (Samantha) Kiecker, and Kelsi (Jordan) Gunufson; and 21 great grandchildren.Also surviving are two brothers, Roger Peterson of Cudahy, WI, and John (Donna) Peterson of Fosston, MN; and two sisters, Ruby Peterson of Minneapolis, MN, and Judy (Roger) Nephew of Fertile, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Andrew, Donald, and Glen Peterson, and infant brother, Robert; sister, Margaret Merrick; and son-in-law, Jack Reierson; and two great grandchildren.Pallbearers (Grandsons): Bill Kaupang, Scott Kaupang, Kyle Kaupang, Ryan Tangen, Nathan Tangen, Mitchell Reierson, Brandon Kiecker, and Jako Philion.
