Phyllis Strom Jordet, age 87, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Tuesday (June 24th) at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (June 28th) at Mount Carmel Free Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Asphult Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Phyllis Verona Reichenbach was born on September 2, 1926 in Heier Township, Mahnomen County, Minnesota to parents Christian and Mary Yost Reichenbach. She was baptized and confirmed at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1944. During and following high school, Phyllis worked at Dahl's Bakery in Fosston, the Fosston Egg Station and at the Gambles Store in Fosston. Phyllis was united in marriage to Stanley "Bobby" Strom August 30, 1947 at Kingo Lutheran Church. After their marriage, they lived and began raising their family near McIntosh. Bobby passed away due a construction accident on September 30, 1966. She continued on raising her family and working at the Mac Manor, Gordy's Fairway, as an outreach worker for Inter-County Community Action Agency of Oklee, Minnesota, and for CETA (Comprehensive Employment Program) at Crookston, Minnesota. She was married to Chester Jordet on November 25, 1977. They lived south of Gully, Minnesota for the next 30 years and Phyllis worked at Mrs. Olsen's Lefsa Plant near Gonvick, Minnesota. Chester passed away on November 10, 2007. After Chester passed away, she moved to McIntosh and then, in September of 2013, to McIntosh Senior Living. She was currently a resident of Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston. Phyllis was a past member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church near Gonvick, Zion Lutheran Church near Gully and was currently attending Mt. Carmel Free Lutheran Church in McIntosh. She liked traveling, gardening, sewing, quilting, and going to flea markets. She also loved to read and stayed up on current events and was proud to have established the first Community Education Program in McIntosh. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Phyllis passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston at the age of 87 years, nine months and 22 days.Survivors include seven children, Wayne (Vicki) Strom of McIntosh, Julie (Mike) Paquin of Brooks, MN, Joel (Connie) Strom of McIntosh, Dean (Gail) Strom of McIntosh, Mary (Mark) Schmidt of Crookston, MN, Beth (Tim) Fortin of Golden Valley, MN, and Terry (Heidi) Strom of Erskine, MN; 21 grandchildren, Chad Strom, Cindy Holmvick, Mark Strom, Marshall Strom, Michelle Mack, Dustin Paquin, Rebecca Paquin, Toby Strom, Brady Strom, Bobby Strom, Micah Strom, Matthew Strom, Kristi Tofstad, Amanda Johnson, Hannah Schmidt-Hooper, Holly Klawitter, Whitney Regan, Nikki Fortin, Jessica Strom, Trevor Strom, and David Strom; 25 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
