Philip J. Mork, age 77, of Winger, MN, passed away on Tuesday (April 6th) at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (April 12th) at the Fosston Baptist Church in Fosston with Pastor Skip Hansen and Pastor Glenn Knudson officiating. Interment will be in Gosen Lutheran Cemetery, rural Winger, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Flag presentation will be provided by the Fengestad-Solie American Legion Post #200 of Winger and arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Memorials are preferred to Gideon's International or the American Cancer Society.Philip James Mork was born on August 25, 1932 to Paul and Jensine (Egge) Mork on the Mork homestead north of Winger, Minnesota. Phil graduated from Erskine High School in 1950 and served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer at Fort Carson, Colorado. After an honorable discharge in 1959, he returned to Winger, married Shirley Wang on October 26, 1963 and farmed there until he retired in 1995. An avid fisherman and hunter, Phil was also incredibly generous with his time and talents. He was a member of The Gideon's International, he served on the Minnesota Gideon State Cabinet, and he held various positions in the Crookston Camp. He also served on the Pioneer Memorial Care Center board of directors, the Co-op Elevator board of directors, and several church boards.Phil and Shirley invited and received Jesus Christ into their hearts as their personal Savior in June of 1967; it was there that they found the "peace that passeth all understanding" which the Bible promises to all those that will call upon Him.Phil passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota at the age of 77 years, seven months and 12 days.Phil is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Shirley of Winger; sons, James (Linda) of Plymouth, MN, David of Phoenix, AZ, and Daniel (Nichole) of Chanhassen, MN; sisters, Ruth Hedman of Lake Park, MN, and Marion (Richard) Leman of Granada Hills, CA; brother, Melvin (Norma) Mork of Anaheim, CA; grandsons, William, Ryan, Matthew, Kyle, Anders, and Nate; and extended family.He was preceded in death by his parents.Honorary Pallbearers will be Dianne Sonstelie, Wayne and Marsha Christianson, Mark Morvig, Rick Larson, and Lynn Aasen.Active Pallbearers will be Steve Hedman, Paul Hedman, David Hedman, David Sall, Helmer Homme, and Carsten Zahl.
