Patricia Dorr

Patricia Dorr, age 96, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Sunday, December 22nd, at McIntosh Senior Living. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28th, at Rodnes Lutheran Church, rural Erskine, with Lee Hoaas officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Patricia Lou (Narum) Dorr was born on March 11, 1928, in Santa Monica, California to parents Clarence and Belinda (Juvland) Narum. She was baptized in Santa Monica and confirmed in Rodnes Lutheran Church in rural Erskine. She returned to Minnesota at age two and was a life-long member of Rodnes Lutheran Church.

She attended Maple Grove rural school, grades 1 to 8 and graduated from Mentor High School in 1945. She then attended teachers’ training school in East Grand Forks for nine months and taught for two years in rural schools. She then attended the Lutheran Bible Institute for one quarter which was something she had always wanted to do.

She married Loren Dorr on June 10, 1949, in Rodnes Lutheran Church. They lived in Minneapolis two years, then move to Mahnomen where Loren worked for a sheet metal company and also road construction. They moved to Nashwauk where Loren drove truck in the mines for a couple of years. They spent the rest of their lives in Erskine where Loren worked for the Minnesota Highway Department until retirement. Pat worked for Garden Valley Telephone Company for 21 years. She also did some nurses’ aide work at the Crookston hospital and the Pioneer Home.

She enjoyed family gatherings, being with friends, reading, baking, sewing, playing piano, singing, games, puzzles, and any activities in church. She was organist for about 60 years, taught Sunday School many years and was Superintendent several of those years also. She was Ladies’ Aide President for several years, Librarian, taught Vacation Bible School for a few years and was congregational Treasurer for 4 years. Loren passed away on February 19, 1998. Pat has lived at McIntosh Senior Living since June of 2018. She passed away peacefully there early Sunday morning, December 22, 2024, at the age of 96 years.

Survivors include two children, Kathryn Nornes of Erskine and Terese Newman of Chanhassen, MN; four grandchildren, Garrett Nornes of Fargo, ND, Tonya Dorr of South St. Paul, MN, Rachel (Tom) Laing of Apple Valley, MN, and Ashley Newman of Willmar, MN; six great grandchildren, Colton, Kinley, Maren, Elise, Graydon, and Levi; one sister, Geri Hulst of McIntosh; brother, Bob Narum of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law, Arlene Dorr of Erskine; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren; son, Robert; daughter, Paulette Dorr Moe; and infant sister, Lucille;
