Oliver Ostenaa, age 94, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday (May 25th) at McIntosh Senior Living. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday (June 12th) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Pastor Ryan Rasmussen officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the McIntosh VFW Post #6891. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Oliver was born on December 30, 1916 in McIntosh, Minnesota to parents, Ole Pederson and Karen (Skara) Ostenaa. He attended a rural country school "Iverson" #122 school in King Township and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1935 where he was known as "Sliver". After graduation he worked around the community for local farmers and especially Max Bartz and later Haagenson Construction. In January of 1942 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego, the Ryukyu Islands in the South Pacific, Okinawa, and later China until his discharge in January of 1946 earning a good conduct medal. He later was called back into service as a Wire Chief through the reserves from April of 1951 until April of 1952. Between his years in the service, Oliver the Academy of Accounting in St. Paul, MN, while living with his sister, "Della" Enerson and her family. In addition to attending school, he worked in a variety of jobs including the St. Paul Ford Plant. In Minneapolis he began working for Northwest Fire and Marine Insurance Company and after moving to Denver, Colorado, in 1955 he began working for Daily Insurance Agency as an Insurance Adjuster. After several mergers he ultimately retired to McIntosh, MN on a farm next to his home farm in 1981.Around May of 1947 he met Eileen May Sloane of Clearwater, Manitoba Canada, at a Minneapolis dance. He later married Eileen on April 15, and they enjoyed dancing and gardening together for more than 50 years.Oliver passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Mac Manor Nursing Home at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 24 days after a lengthy struggle with alzheimer's.He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of 62 years, one month, and ten days, one daughter, Diane Joyce (Grundyson), one son-in-law, Steven "Bruce" Grundyson, and their two daughters, Gwen Eileen (Rue) and her husband Kristopher Bryan Rue of Maple Grove, MN, and Carla May Grundyson of St. Michael, MN. Oliver is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ardelle Jore (Ostenaa), two nieces, three nephews, and several grand nieces and nephews. He was waiting to meet his new great grand child this summer.He was preceded in death by his parents: Karen & Ole Pederson Ostenaa: one brother, Peter Herman, two sisters, Karella Enerson, her husband Einar Enerson, Adelia Belinda "Della" Enerson, her husband Adolph Enerson, and a niece, Carol Ann Enerson.
