Oliver Landsverk, age 90, of rural Fosston, MN passed away on Monday, July 26th at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston, with Rev. Alan Arneson officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29th from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Free Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Free Lutheran Church. Oliver Arnold Landsverk was born July 26, 1920 on the family farm near Fosston, MN to Arne and Tilda (Vollen) Landsverk. He attended The Landsverk School for primary grades and graduated from high school at the Crookston AC. He attended Augsburg College for one year in Minneapolis, then returned to join his father on the farm. In 1949, he was united in marriage to Mavis Munter. To this union of 61 years, four children were born: Gail, David, Mary, and Mark.Oliver farmed all of his life and was active in many farming organizations. These included Fosston Co-op Elevator Association, Red River Valley Potato Growers Association, and Production Credit Association of Grand Forks, among others. He and Mavis were named Red River Valley Farmer and Homemaker of the Year.Oliver, along with his family, was a charter member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities including president, church council member, trustee, and deacon. One of Oliver's dreams was fulfilled in May 2010, when he attended the first service of the new Calvary Church. Oliver was also active in the Gideon ministry.Oliver received his private pilot's license in 1977. Another hobby was mowing his three-hole golf course and acreage. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and mornings with his "coffee buddies." Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.Oliver passed away on his 90th birthday, July 26, 2010, at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.Oliver is survived by his wife, Mavis, currently residing at Pioneer Memorial Care Center; his children, Gail (Glen) Baker of Corbin, KY, David (Jean) of Fosston, Mary (Keith) Larson of Fargo, ND, and Mark (Jill) of Fosston. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; Sara (Barry) Mahan, Alison (Paul) Baker-Haney, John (Hilary) Baker, Derek, Kevin, and Kelly Landsverk, Karl, Claire, and Samuel Larson, Christian, Olivia, and Amelia Landsverk; two great grandchildren, Gabriel and Audrey Mahan. He is also survived by a sister, Thelma (Martin) LeBeau of Eagle Butte, SD.He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Agnes (Herb) Torbenson, and Gudrun (George) Belcher.Blessed be his memory.
