Norman Lee

Norman Lee, age 73, of South St. Paul, MN and formerly of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday (December 3rd) at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday (December 12th) at Kingo Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston. Military honors will be conducted by the Spring Lake V.F.W. Post #2759 of Lengby. Local arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and online guestbook is available at carlinhoialmen.com.Norman W. Lee, Sr was born January 8, 1938 in Fosston, Minnesota to Morris and Hulda Lee.  He was Baptized and Confirmed at Kingo Lutheran Church of Fosston.  He grew up in Fosston and graduated from High School there in 1956.  Norman greatly enjoyed the sports and recreation opportunities in Northern Minnesota and enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his cousin's farm North of Fosston.  After graduation, Norman spent two years working on the Iron Ore Boats on the Great Lakes and earned his First Class Engineer's license in that work.  Norman entered the United States Army in 1959 and served in Korea and received an Honorable Discharge in 1961.  He married Janice Anderson in 1962 and later married Mary Valtierra in St. Paul.  While living in the Twin Cities, Norman worked as a maintenance engineer at Bethesda and Divine Redeemer Hospitals.  He then worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone until his retirement.  In his later years, he enjoyed researching family history and maintaining historical records on the computer.  His deteriorating health placed him in a nursing home for the last several months and he passed away December 3, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul.  He was preceded in Death by his Father and Mother, Morris and Hulda Lee and is survived by his Sister Loanne (Larry) Sorenson of Arlington, his Daughter DeAnn Halverson of Wasilla, Alaska, Son Bryan (Dana) Lee of Bemidji, Son Norman Lee Jr. of St. Paul and Daughter Lisa Lee Flores of St. Paul.  He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
