Norman H. Brustad, 81, of Yuma, AZ, passed away on Saturday, June 16th, at Yuma Regional Hospital with his wife, Janice, by his side. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 25th, at Rodnes Lutheran Church, rural Erskine, MN with the Rev. Joel Smeby officiating. Interment will be in First English Cemetery, Mentor, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday, June 24th, at Carlin Funeral Home in Erskine. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the Air Force Honors Team. Norman Harold Brustad was born April 5, 1937 in Columbia Township in Polk County, Minnesota to Alex and Florence (Eissner) Brustad. He started grade school in Fisher, Minnesota and then moved with his family to Mentor, Minnesota where he continued his schooling in the Mentor Public School. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fisher, Minnesota. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Yuma, Arizona.He served in the United States Air Force for 22.5 years. Norman married Janice Babola on April 4, 1959 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Upon retiring from the Air Force, Norman and Janice operated a sports equipment and repair business in Anchorage, Alaska. Norman and Janice traveled the world and made friends wherever they went. They settled in Yuma, Arizona. They loved to come home to Mentor and spend time with family and friends.Norman is survived by his wife, Janice, of 59 years, one brother, Kenneth (Juanita) Brustad, Grand Forks, North Dakota, three sisters, Louann (Clark) McGlynn, Mentor, Minnesota, Sylvia (John) Jankila, Virginia, Minnesota, Marilyn (Will) Roy, Oak Park, Illinois, many nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and grand nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Leslie (June) Brustad.
