Norma Emerson

Norma Emerson, age 82 of Weme, MN, passed away on Tuesday, May 26th at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston, MN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 10:30 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN with Pastor Bob Kirchman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday morning. Interment will be at Oak Park Cemetery in Weme following the funeral ceremony. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Norma Celestian (nee Berg) Emerson was born on June 6, 1932 in Bagley, MN. She attended high school in Clearbrook, MN and graduated in 1949. Norma married Russell Evje in 1949 and together they had a daughter, Vicki. Russell passed away in 1955.In 1956, Norma married Larry Emerson of Trail, MN and moved to Milwaukee, WI where they worked and lived for 31 years. In addition to Vicki, they had three children - Lori, Michael and Stacey.Norma worked for many years in the grocery business, managing the delicatessen at a Sentry Foods store. She and Larry retired in 1987, moving back to her childhood farm in Weme.Norma was an avid puzzler, mastering the daily crossword of several newspapers. Her home was always open and frequently full of guests, enjoying her hospitality and warm company.On Tuesday, May 26, 2015 Norma passed away at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston, MN at the age of 82 years.Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Erick and Alma Berg, her daughter Vicki Nakamura and sibling Armand Berg. She is survived by her husband Larry and children Lori (Kenneth) Becker of Mequon, WI; Michael (Jan) Emerson of Minneapolis, MN; and Stacey (Steven) Grey of Oshkosh, WI. Her grandchildren are Ryan (Shea) Schneider of Alt, CO; James (Brandi) Becker of Grafton, WI; Megan (Cody) Kloeckner of Madison, WI; Adam Becker of Mequon, WI; Lauren Emerson of Vienna, Austria; Elliot Emerson of Minneapolis, MN; and Kaitlin, Alex and Erik Grey of Oshkosh, WI. Great grandchildren include Sabina Schneider of Salt Lake City, UT; Gavin Schneider of Alt, CO; and Aybree and Easton Becker of Grafton, WI. Surviving siblings include Sybil Bergman of Clearbrook, MN; Franklin Berg of Pinckney, MI; and Yvonne Enerson of Little Falls, MN.Norma also leaves behind many friends, relatives and adoring fans.
