Neil Barlund, age 67, of Boyceville, WI, and formerly of Fertile and Clearbrook, MN passed away on Thursday, August 20th at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 3:00 PM at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston, MN with Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment of cremains will be at Union Lake Free Lutheran Cemetery, rural Winger, MN. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Neil Rayome Barlund was born October 18, 1947 in Crookston, Minnesota to parents Raymond and Mary (Nephew) Barlund. He graduated from Fertile High School in 1966. He joined the National Guard, and also worked at Detroiter Manufactured Homes in Red Lake Falls, MN, as well as American Crystal Sugar, MDV, and construction work. He lived in Fertile, Minnesota, Clearbrook, Minnesota, and Boyceville, Wisconsin.Neil enjoyed his hobbies of carpentry, building things, and fishing. He also had a love for gardening, canning, and baking.On Thursday, August 20, 2015, Neil Barlund passed away at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota at the age of 67 years.He is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Steve) Thorson of Leonard, MN; sisters Joy (Deland) Elseth of Thief River Falls, MN, and Dianne Bloomfield of Boyceville, WI; grandchildren: Brandi, Hannah, Nathan, Nicholas, Tyler (Katelyn Olson), Tannen, and Tianna; great-grandchildren: Carson, Vincent, Isabella, Ellie, Aubrey, and Carter.Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter DeEtte Tinkler; and an infant sister.
