Nancy Schacher

Nancy Schacher, age 67, from Lengby, MN passed away on Thursday, March 17th at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston, MN. Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 21st at 3:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby with Rev. Shawn Stafford officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the memorial service at the church, and interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements, and condolences may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Nancy Rae Harthun was born in Mahnomen, MN on June 4th, 1943, a daughter of Raymond and Winnifred "Peggy" (Washinsby) Harthun. She was raised in the area and graduated from Fosston High School in 1961.Nancy married Donald Schacher on September 14th, 1963, at First English Lutheran Church in Fosston, MN. They lived in Fosston until 1979 when they moved to Lengby, MN.Nancy worked for the Sears catalog store of Fosston for several years as a sales clerk and the business owner. She then sold the business and worked for other businesses as a sales clerk.Nancy was involved with many organizations in Lengby and Fosston. She was a Sunday school teacher at First English Lutheran church. She was involved with the Ladies Aide at First English Lutheran Church and St Paul Lutheran Church. She volunteered several years as a Girl Scout leader in Fosston. She was the treasurer for the Island Lake Drifters Snow Mobile Club. And she spent many years volunteering with the Lengby Improvement Club and was the secretary for the club.Nancy enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, volunteering with the Lengby Improvement Club, traveling, family gatherings and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren.On Thursday, March 17th, 2011 Nancy passed away at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston at the age of 67 years.Surviving Family includes: Husband, Donald Schacher; Children, Miles (Joann) Schacher of Hawley, MN, Tracy (Steve) Grove of Bemidji, MN, Tina (Kevin Sistad) Schacher of Lengby, MN; Grandchildren, Jasmin Schacher, Wyatt Grove, Jessica Schacher, Tyler Schacher, Madison Schacher, Morgan Grove, Gavin Sistad; Sisters and Brother, Debbie Hanson of Wannaska, MN, Jeff (Diane) Harthun of Burnsville, MN, Mary Lou (Herman) Blasing of Ely, MN; Uncle, Richard Washinsby of Wilkinson, MN; Sisters in law and Brothers in law, Mary Griffin of Fosston, MN, Bill (Jean) Schacher of Burnsville, MN, Lois Torbett of Springfield, MO, Florence (Ernie) Nesvold of Fosston, MN; Eight Nephews and Four Nieces; Godchild Kevin (Kim) Nelson of Larimore, ND; and several cousins.Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Winnifred "Peggy" Harthun; Father in law and Mother in law, Andrew and Francis Schacher and her grandparents.
