Minnie Paulson, age 98, of Fertile, MN, passed away on Sunday, December 6th at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 12th at 11:00 AM at Maple Lake Lutheran Church, rural Fertile with Rev. Gretchen Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church, and interment will be at the church cemetery. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston, MN is in charge of the arrangements.Minnie Gladys Underdahl was born to Julius and Anna (Thompson) Underdahl on September 22, 1911 in rural Fertile, Norman County, MN. Later the family moved to Woodside Township, rural Erskine, MN where she attended country school.In 1936, Minnie married Alfred Paulson and they bought a farm northeast of Fertile. They moved into Fertile in 1984. In 2000, Minnie moved into the Sunshine Court Apartments, and in July of 2007, she moved to the Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile.Minnie worked for the Polk County Nursing Service for 10 years traveling to homes in the Fosston and McIntosh, MN area to care for clients in their homes. For many years she wrote the Woodside News for the Fertile Journal Newspaper. Minnie was an active lifelong member of Maple Lake Lutheran Church and loved planning and working for many weddings. She also sang in a trio for many years. She loved having a garden and many beautiful flowers, and loved to visit and cook and entertain family and friends.On Sunday, December 6, 2009 Minnie passed away at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile at the age of 98 years.Minnie is survived by one daughter, Doreen (Fritz) Leiran of Grand Forks, ND; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred in 1987; three brothers, Alfred, Merle and Clarence Underdahl; and one sister, Dora Bjelland.She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
