Milt Brumwell

Milt Brumwell, age 73, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Sunday, September 24th, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2nd, at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen and Rev. Michelle Miller officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Erskine. Visitation will be held on from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with at 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday, October 1st, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Erskine. Family will also greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home of Erskine and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be give to your favorite charity.Milt was born August 27, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the third son of Harry and Jane (Lonne) Brumwell. His parents purchased a farm north of Erskine and at the age of four, the family moved to Minnesota. He attended and graduated from Erskine High School, with the Class of 1962. He continued his education at Bemidji State College and received his BS degree in Science, with a concentration in Chemistry, in 1967.That fall he accepted a teaching position for one year, in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. The following year, he returned to Erskine and taught science for four years. He started his employment with Solar Gas, Mentor, Minnesota in the fall of 1972 and worked diligently until his retirement in 2005. Milt was united in marriage to Sherry Myers on March 10, 1973 at Salem Lutheran Church in McIntosh, Minnesota. In 1974, they built their home north of Erskine and have resided in Badger Township since. He became the proud father to three children, Mike, Katie, and Scott, whom he cherished very much. He had varied interests and hobbies, such as woodworking, trapshooting, hunting, farming, gardening, camping, and traveling. Milt and Sherry enjoyed camping 10 winters in Arizona and Texas and made many new friends and lasting relationships. In 2016, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and lost his courageous fight on Sunday, September 24, 2017.Left to celebrate having shared his life are, wife, Sherry; son, Michael (Amanda) Brumwell; daughter, Katie (Corey) Hanson; and son, Scott (Michelle) Brumwell. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Riley, Morgan and Jaden Hanson, along with three brothers, Bob (Jan) of Florida, Jim (Jean) of Illinois, and Dick of Red Lake Falls, MN; one aunt, Ruth Kensrud of Lisbon, ND; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends!Waiting in heaven, to welcome him home, are his parents, Harry and Jane; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Leona Myers; and sister-in-law, Diane Brumwell. Also many aunts, uncles and friends.He will be missed...........
