Mildred Yergens, age 93, of Saginaw, MN, and formerly of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday (June 9th) at Grand Lake Manor in Saginaw. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (June 14th) at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Mark Peske officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday (June 13th) at the McIntosh Community Center. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Mildred Emelyn Yergens was born May 30, 1917 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Ingvald and Clara (Schumacher) Wold. She grew up in McIntosh, graduating from McIntosh High School in 1935. She attended Normal Training and taught country schools for several years. She also worked in California at Douglas Aircraft and in St. Paul, Minnesota, in the Auditor's Office.She was united in marriage to Stewart Yergens on October 10, 1948 at Austin, Minnesota. After their marriage, Stewart and Mildred farmed and raised their family on the Yergens home farm in King Township. Mildred also worked at Bovee Insurance Agency and the First National Bank in McIntosh.In her early years, Mildred was involved in Immanuel Lutheran Church as a Sunday School teacher, evening circle member, and a Ladies Aid member. She loved planning and preparing for reunions - both family and school. She also enjoyed sewing and made gifts, clothes and quilts for family and friends.Left to mourn her passing are two children, Milton (Barbara) Yergens of Fargo, ND and Clarice (Bob) Beresford of Duluth, MN; four grandchildren - Zach (Kate) Beresford, Luke Beresford, Emily Beresford, and Molly Yergens; sister-in-law Mildred Gluth and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Stewart, her parents, and one brother (Alton).A special thank you is extended to Mrs. Alice Warford and to the staff at the McIntosh Manor, Madsen Husen Home, and Grand Lake Manor for the wonderful care given to Mildred.We honor and treasure her memory.
