Mildred Elaine Brekke Hansen, 95, Erskine, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston, MN with her son at her side. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8th, at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Winger City Cemetery. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Care Center. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com.Mildred was born on September 25, 1922 to Herman and Olga (Myhre) Christianson in Bear Park Township, Norman County, Minnesota. She grew up in rural southwest Winger, Minnesota and attended Woodland Park Country School. Mildred graduated from Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls, Minnesota in 1940.Upon graduation Mildred felt a need to get involved in the war effort. She worked at the Ordinance Ammunition Plant in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She then worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant near Detroit, Michigan on the assembly line building B-24 liberator heavy bombers.Mildred married Lester Brekke on November 25, 1946. They made their home on the farm in rural Winger for a number of years. They were blessed with two sons, James and Jonathon. She worked at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, Minnesota. Mildred went to Nursing Training in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Mildred and Lester were Administrators of Mac Manor in McIntosh, Minnesota for eleven years and the Valley Home in Thief River Falls for fourteen years. Lester passed away in 1986. Mildred retired in 1991.Mildred married Donald Hansen on December 26, 1994. They made their home on the hobby farm in rural Erskine. Don passed away on January 27, 2013. Mildred was a life-long active member of Dovre Free Lutheran Church in Winger.Mildred is survived by her son, James (Lauree), Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Joshua, CA, Kaira Stewart, CA and Katie Dickson, MT; three great grandchildren, George Dickson, Edmond Dickson, MT, Alexandra Stewart, CA; four step grandchildren, Mark Hansen, Eagan, MN; Kathe Hansen, Minneapolis, MN; Keith Hansen, Minneapolis, MN; Carol Addington, FL.Mildred is preceded in death by her husbands, Lester Brekke and Donald Hansen; son, Jonathon; her parents; sister, Betty Lecy Anderson; brother, James Christianson; infant sister, Eleanor; and step-son, Paul Hansen.
