Mildred Beckstrom

Mildred Beckstrom, age 88 from Fosston, MN passed away on Thursday, November 15th at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 2nd at 1:00 PM following regular 10:30 AM worship and dinner at 12:00 PM at Poplar Lake Lutheran Church, rural Fosston with Pastor John Anderson officiating. All services and dinner are at the church and all are welcome to attend. Interment of cremains will be at the church cemetery at a later date, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements.Mildred Marie Beckstrom was born on February 23, 1924 in Columbia Township, Polk County, Minnesota to parents Carl A. and Camilla (Olson) Beckstrom. She attended the Pine Hill School in Columbia Township from first through Eighth grade, graduated from Fosston High School in Fosston, MN in 1941, and attended Fargo Business College for six months. Mildred worked at the Farmers State Bank of Fosston from March 1942 until retirement on April 1, 1986. She was a life member of Poplar Lake Lutheran Church, rural Fosston where she was baptized and confirmed, was active in church functions including Ladies Aid, and was church treasurer. She provided to various charities including Christian Children's Fund, American Bible Society, and many others, and she liked to travel.On Thursday, November 15, 2012 Mildred passed away at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston at the age of 88 years.She is survived by Mercedes Beckstrom and family of Fosston, Bill and Izzie Anderson and family of Colorado Springs, Elaine Olson and family of Fosston, Robert and Marilyn Anderson and family of Fosston, Mavis Rieb and family of Fargo, Don and Judi (Beckstrom) Long of Bemidji, Cherie Araujo and Anthony Vergez of California, Michael and Pamela Kelsey and Margot Kelsey and Max Kelsey of Bemidji, and Al and Vicki Olson, Ruth and David Olson, Gary and Mary Jo Olson, Pat and Mike Olson, and Duane and Janet Olson all of Fosston, and Bob and Karen Olson of McIntosh.She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, her sister, Marion Vergez, cousins, Alton and Wilmer Beckstrom, and special friend, Francis Johnson.
