Merliene Vennes

Merliene Vennes, age 94, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, May 10th, at McIntosh Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 16th, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Ragan officiating. Interment will be in Landsverk Cemetery, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Merliene Joy Anderson was born at Atwater, Minnesota on January 16, 1928 to parents Frank and Joren (Ekeberg) Anderson. At the age of four years, she moved with her parents to the farm in Sletten Township that her grandparents homesteaded. She attended the Landsverk country school and Fosston High School. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1944 she was married to Joel Vennes. She was a member of Kingo Lutheran Church, a 4-H leader when her children were growing up and a stay at home mom. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and gardening.

She is survived by two children, Sherryl (Rodney Tracy) Gunderson of Wyoming, MN, and Lynn (Sue) Vennes of Fosston, MN; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel; her parents, Frank and Joren Anderson; daughter, Karen Thompson; brother, Curtis Anderson; sister-in-law, Betty Anderson; son-in-law, Gene Gunderson; one nephew; and special friend, Lloyd Schleicher.
