Mata Kilborn

Mata Kilborn, age 95, of Fosston, MN, and formerly of Lengby, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 26th, at Cornerstone Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby with the Rev. Mark Faugstad officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Mata Amelia Wandschneider was born on February 25, 1920 in Rabey, Minnesota, the fifth of seven children, to parents William and Mathilda Steindorf Wandschneider. She was baptized in Rabey and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lengby. She moved with her family to Lengby in 1931, attended the Lengby school and graduated from Fosston High School in 1937. Following high school, she worked with her sister, Jeanette, in Minneapolis. Mata was united in marriage to Roger Orville Kilborn on May 2, 1947 in Rapid City, South Dakota. They lived in Moorhead, Minnesota where Orv was a maintenance supervisor and Mata was head Teller at a bank in Moorhead. They moved to Lengby in 1960 and farmed hogs and grain near Lengby until 1975. Mata also worked as a Teller at the Farmer's State Bank in Fosston from 1963 until her retirement in 1984. Orv passed away on January 3, 1986. After his passing, Mata enjoyed traveling with her friend, Devona, making many wonderful memories. Due to health issues, she moved to Fosston in 1999.She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aid and as a Friday and Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Lengby Improvement Club and her bowling team. She enjoyed picking blueberries and spending time with her sisters. She is dearly loved by her sisters and her many nieces and nephews.Survivors include two sisters, Jeanette Fenske and Phronie Olson, both of Fosston; and her nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; siblings, Herb, Martin and Walt, and an infant sibling; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Fenske and Al Olson; and three sisters-in-law, Ethel, Joyce and Barb Wandschneider.
